With ‘walking title’ I’m looking to explore the power of cinematic tools in a setting of everyday life. Performed on the escalators of a metro station, alongside sound and text, a simple repetitive gesture becomes a poem. A moment of passage – people on their commute, feeling unseen – is loaded with meaning through the tools of cinematic narration. Physical reality becomes a cinematic essay. Real windows become a silver screen, a new narrative emerges from fragments of existing texts and music. Reality bends in a subtle way, seemingly breaking the laws of time.
Including texts and music by:
Albert Camus / Ernst Bloch / Édouard Glissant / George Steiner / Hilde Domin / James Baldwin / Johann Wolfgang von Goethe / Kae Tempest / Laurie Anderson / Mascha Kaléko / Rainer Maria Rilke / Sören Kierkegaard
Johannes Brahms / Edith Piaf
